SARAJEVO, May 9 (FENA) - FBiH Assistant Minister of Health Goran Čerkez told FENA that the World Health Organization has declared end to Covid-19 global public health emergency, and that in the coming period they also expect the end of the epidemic to be declared in BiH.
"We have already started certain activities in this context. We have sent certain letters with requests for statements from the Institute for Public Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After we receive their opinion, we will proceed to the Government of FBiH to propose the abolition of all measures," said Čerkez.
He pointed out that this does not mean that the coronavirus is not present, and that we must continue to be aware of it.
However, he added, the end has definitely come, that happy moment for the citizens of BiH and the world "to finally be at the stage to declare the end of the epidemic in BiH as well". A couple of countries have already done so.
Čerkez states that there are still cases of coronavirus.
"The coronavirus is still present in society. What is important to say, the clinical pictures are not what we had. We still have to be careful in some way, but that gives us the possibility to declare the end, because the current situation is such that we can take those steps," said Čerkez.
He points out that the coronavirus today and the coronavirus at the beginning are not the same, and that vaccines have significantly contributed to this.
"Vaccination all over the world has contributed to the fact that we have a significantly lower number of them, that the virus is practically stopped to a certain extent and that we get out of these pandemics and epidemics. If that immunization process did not exist in the world, but also in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we would certainly be in a much worse condition today," stated Čerkez.
