SARAJEVO, May 1 (FENA) - The President of the Trade Union of BiH Trade Workers, Mersiha Ferhatović - Beširević, said today in Sarajevo that she hopes that finally political representatives at all levels of government will decide to sit down with the workers and start solving essential existential issues so that they no longer would leave the country en masse.
At the May Day protest called "When is it our turn?", Ferhatović - Beširević pointed out that one of the basic demands is an urgent increase in the minimum wage, but that the mentioned amount of 400 KM has already devalued and a higher amount will be needed.
She added that all institutions should be asked when it is time to start talking about workers' rights and incomes and the economy in general.
"Unfortunately, even today there is no legal solution for retail chains not to work on national holidays, but thanks to the efforts of the trade union, they still closed their facilities today," said Ferhatović-Beširević.
The President of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees in Civil Service Bodies, Judiciary and Public Institutions in FBiH, Samir Kurtović, said that the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of BiH supports the Trade Union of BiH in their efforts to reach legal solutions for the protection of their rights.
She stated that in the coming period, the Federation will pay particular attention to that trade union because trade workers have the lowest incomes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and are the worst in terms of labor rights.
