The increase in the amount of electricity exports was not accompanied by financial result

FENA Darinka Mitrović,

SARAJEVO, April 26 (FENA) - The physical volume of electricity exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first quarter of this year was 2.1 TWh, which is 17.5 percent more than in the same period of the previous year. The financial effect of that electricity export amounted to 368 million KM, which is 9.5 percent less compared to the same period last year, according to data from the analysis of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Committee of the International Council on Large Electrical Systems (BH K CIGRE).

The physical volume of net export in the first quarter of this year amounted to 1.1 TWh, which represents an increase of ten percent, while from a financial point of view, net export is lower by 27.8 percent. The physical volume of net exports was particularly pronounced in March this year due to the significant inflow of water.

According to the president of BH K CIGRE, Edhem Bičakčić, the reason for the smaller financial effects is the lower price of electricity on the stock exchanges, which is a consequence of a relatively mild winter and a fairly good level of natural gas storage in Western Europe.

“Regarding the electricity price forecasts for the rest of the year, I believe that they will remain at the same level in the first half of the year, while they will increase by around 20 percent in the third quarter or 40 percent in the fourth quarter. A possible sudden jump in electricity prices on the stock exchanges can only happen in the case of a very cold winter or some major energy breakdowns,” Bičakčić added.
