SARAJEVO, April 13 (FENA) – A total of 728 migrants are currently accommodated in two temporary reception centers for migrants in the Sarajevo Canton - Ušivak and Blažuj, and since the beginning of the year, these two centers have hosted 12,061 people, which is about 75 percent of the total number of migrants population in our country.
As Commissioner for Migrant Affairs Safet Mušić reported to the SC Government today, who performs this function at the suggestion of the SC Ministry of Internal Affairs, a slight increase in the number of migrants in our country has been recorded since March.
Compared to February, 155 more migrants were registered in the two reception centers in Sarajevo Canton. Most of them, as in the previous period, come from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Morocco, Algeria and Bangladesh, while recently there has been an increased number of migrants from Cuba and Burundi.
Mušić emphasized that the situation in Sarajevo Canton is under control, that is, there is no pressure on this canton regarding the influx of migrants, and the security situation is also satisfactory and under control.
As he stated, in the last two months there have been no serious cases of crime or criminal acts connected to the migrant population.
“According to the data of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH, from January 1 to April 12 this year, a total of 12,061 migrants were registered to enter BiH, of which 9,045 were registered in the Sarajevo Canton, and 3,016 in the Una-Sana Canton. Of the 728 migrants who are currently accommodated in the temporary reception centers of the Sarajevo Canton, 138 are accommodated in Ušivak, and 509 in Blažuj,” stated Mušić, the Press Service of the Sarajevo Canton announced.
