SARAJEVO, April 4 (FENA) - Chair of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, handed over the signed Financing Agreement of the Annual Action Plan in support for the Energy Support Package for the Western Balkans in favor of BiH for 2023 between the European Union and BiH to the Head of the EU Delegation and the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johann Sattler.
This package, worth 70 million euros, will provide assistance to the most vulnerable households addressing the consequences of the rising prices, as well as assistance in the energy transition in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“It is a support package from the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina of 70 million euros to mitigate the socio-economic consequences of the energy crises which caused the price increase,” said Chair of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto.
She added that in this way, we are helping the most vulnerable categories of the population in BiH, who have faced a rise in energy prices.
“The package will also provide help to housing units, in terms of energy efficiency, as well as to small and medium-sized enterprises, which are the basis of our economy, and what should be done in the future for economic growth and development,” stated Krišto.
Head of the EU Delegation and the EU's Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johann Sattler, said that this step means that Bosnia and Herzegovina will receive the first tranche of a package worth 70 million euros to support the most vulnerable households. According to him, that is about 170 thousand households in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It will also help the energy transition as a form of investment in the future of this country.
“Our message to you is that you can count on the EU support, especially in difficult moments,” said Ambassador Sattler.
