SARAJEVO, February 28 (FENA) - Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sevlid Hurtić today received the Ambassador of Japan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Masami Kinefuchi, in an inaugural visit.
Minister Hurtić informed Ambassador Kinefuchi about the current activities and priorities in the work of the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressing the importance of implementing reforms and fulfilling the priorities for BiH's membership in the EU, the Ministry said.
The Minister emphasized the importance of the complete closure of all collective and alternative centers throughout the country in the coming years, adding that the focus of the Ministry's work will remain the protection of the rights of citizens, national minorities, victims of torture, and other activities in the field of human rights.
He thanked the people and leadership of Japan for the help that this friendly country has sent to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past 27 years, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He reminded that Japan, with more than 500 million euros, is one of the biggest donors in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ambassador Kinefuchi conveyed Japan's experiences in the field of refugee care and the protection of the rights of national minorities. He emphasized his country's support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to the EU, adding that Japan's goal is to improve the living standards of all citizens in our country and that the Embassy will continue the implementation of small grants. He also introduced the Minister to the current project related to improving the quality of border control in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
