SARAJEVO, February 24 (FENA) - The Light Shines Even in the Dark is the name of the exhibition and panel discussion held today at the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of marking the anniversary of the Ukrainian resistance against the Russian invasion.

The events, organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the PROI Association, in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, the embassies of the Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway, as well as the Embassy of the United States in BiH, were another opportunity to show solidarity with Ukraine and its people in the fight against Russian aggression, which, as it was said, was carried out against international law and in violation of the Charter of the United Nations.

As it was pointed out on that occasion, "the Russian war against Ukraine is not a war between two states, but a war between two systems - democratic and authoritarian, in which Ukrainians are not only defending their own country and freedom, but also European values".

The participants of the opening of an unusual art-documentary exhibition of posters, which brings 100 inspiring stories about Ukrainian struggle, unity and indomitability, were greeted by the chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serhli Miniailo, underlining that freedom has no price, and Ukraine's determination to continue the fight for freedom, no matter how long it takes. will be necessary.

- The morale of Ukrainians is high and, according to the latest surveys, 90 percent of Ukrainians believe in victory. Russia has not, nor will it succeed in achieving its strategic goals - to occupy Ukraine, destroy Ukrainian statehood and erase Ukrainian identity - said Miniailo.

The importance of Ukrainian resistance to the brutal Russian invasion was pointed out by the US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael J. Murphy, saluting the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people, who bravely and skillfully defend their own country and the universal values of democracy and freedom.

- The unity, resilience and determination of the Ukrainians that have shown themselves during the past year are an inspiration for all of us - said the American ambassador, emphasizing the readiness of the USA to continue supporting Ukraine together with its allies, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, as long as necessary.

Messages of encouragement to the Ukrainian people regarding their determined fight for freedom were also sent by the head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU's special representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johann Sattler, opposing the return to the outdated principles according to which 'power is what rules', and expressing the EU's determination to ensure that this principle of force is not the one that will ultimately win.

At the same time, he reminded of the brutal suffering of millions of people who were victims of the mentioned principle all over the world, including the citizens of Sarajevo.

Sattler considered it significant that the events in Ukraine were accompanied by the unity of the allies, expressing his satisfaction that Bosnia and Herzegovina is among the 141 countries within that alliance.

Addressing the participants of the event, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johanna Stromquist, said that supporting Ukraine is not only a moral obligation, but that it is a step that will define the future of Europe and its common security.

- Support to Ukraine is one of the key priorities of the EU presidency and will be continued as long as necessary - she said.

The ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Olav Reinertsen, sent messages of similar content, emphasizing that his country stands firmly by Ukraine.

- As the contact of the Embassy for NATO in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we closely monitor the results of Russian aggression here in Bosnia and Herzegovina - said the Norwegian ambassador, emphasizing the importance of providing support to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and engaging allies so that the war from Ukraine does not 'spill over' into Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The participants of the event were greeted by the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, with messages of solidarity with the people of Ukraine and a call for good and against evil.

- From the freedom-loving Sarajevo, from the Jerusalem of Europe, we are sending a clear and loud message that evil will never win - said Karić, emphasizing the importance of staying on the bright side of history, and underlining that no one has the right to kill the rights of others.

After the opening of the exhibition of works by the group of Ukrainian illustrators 'Pictoric', which testifies to the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian people, a panel discussion followed with the participation of witnesses and actors of resistance and struggle from Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina, who had the opportunity to share their experiences and attitudes, and encourage reflection on solidarity and the fight for freedom as important topics of all time.

As announced, the exhibition "The Light Shines Even in the Dark" in the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be open until March 10.
