SARAJEVO, January 30 (FENA) - A representative of the Steering Committee of the Working Group for BiH from the USA, Azem Dervišević, during his stay in Sarajevo, visited the Council of the Congress of Bosniak Intellectuals (VKBI), where he said that further steps will be aimed at continuing to implement the principles established in the Declaration on constitutional and other reforms of BiH on the way to the EU and NATO, whose signatories include, among others, the Working Group for BiH and the VKBI.
The Working Group for Bosnia and Herzegovina is a formal organization of US citizens registered in the USA, in which, in addition to Americans originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, there are also many notable US professors - David Pettigrew, Daniel Serwer and many others.
In the conversation with the secretary-general of the VKBI, Emir Zlatar, the necessity of joint action was agreed upon in order to present the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina in a credible manner, especially according to the institutions of the State Department and both houses of the US Congress.
He stated that the representatives of the US Government often act from positions that are not in accordance with the narratives we hear from the State Department, especially in the segment that democratic European acquis that are valid in all EU member states should be applied in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was stated that this discrepancy between the basic positions of the US institutions and their envoys for the Western Balkans is often the product of insufficient information by key persons in the State Department, and the public can get the impression that the US is abandoning the fundamental principles of human rights and freedoms in BiH through the proposed legislative solutions in BiH.
Political pragmatism takes precedence over the rule of law, and it is necessary to inform the US Government precisely and with arguments about these phenomena, stated the VKBI.
