SARAJEVO, January 11 (FENA) - After today's session of the SDA Presidency, Vice President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Safet Softić announced the names that the party will nominate for the House of Peoples at the session on Tuesday, January 17.
“At today's regular session of the SDA Presidency, the focus was on personnel issues that lie ahead of us, first of all, the scheduled session of the FBiH House of Peoples on January 17, and in this sense, the SDA has prepared certain solutions,” stated Softić.
He added that the party wanted Melika Mahmutbegović to remain a candidate for the vice president of FBiH because everyone in SDA is extremely satisfied with the way she performed the function.
“However, she announced yesterday, at the Collegium session, that there are amendments to the Election Law from October 2, which state that the president or vice-president of the Federation can serve two four-year terms. Since Mahmutbegović was elected to that position once, but that technical mandate was extended to practically two mandates, she stepped down from this position, not wanting to endanger the party,” added Softić.
He stated that the candidates for the state House of Peoples were determined today and the procedure will be launched on Tuesday at the session.
“Given that the SDA has 12 delegates in total in the Bosniak Caucus of the FBiH House of Peoples, we decided in agreement with the Democratic Front (DF) that the SDA will give one seat to the DF and it will probably be Dženan Đonlagić. He will be supported by four or three delegates. The other two candidates who will be nominated are me and Šefik Džaferović. Unanimous decisions were made regarding this topic today,” emphasized Softić.
