SREBRENICA, November 13 (FENA) - The Srebrenica Memorial Center supported a volunteering program for young people as part of the "Beyond Words" project. It is a project of the Memorial Center, that works on recording and indexing of oral history - testimonies of people who survived the genocide in Srebrenica and family members of those who were killed in the genocide.
The Memorial Center, through its activities, tries to involve young experts from all over the country, which resulted in securing opportunities for volunteer work on research.
Volunteer work is also an opportunity for the descendants and relatives of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica to contribute to the memory and work of the Memorial Center.
Volunteers made their contribution through translations of materials, participation in the search for 'key words' that will facilitate research work on materials, proofreading and editing of existing materials.
Project coordinator Mahir Omerović said that the project shows how important it is to create a framework for serious research work on the preservation of testimony.
As part of the project, at least 50 video testimonies will be indexed, which will be the basis for content searches by researchers from the country and the world.
Also, translations of the material will be carried out on the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime, 9 December, and the publication "Beyond words" will be presented in the Memorial Center. The publication is created as a result of the research work that was carried out through the Office of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina supported by UNDP and UNHCR, announced the Srebrenica Memorial Center.
