SARAJEVO/PIEDMONT, September 20 (FENA) - The Alliance of Italian Wine, Oil and Aroma Routes in cooperation with Iter Vitis organized this week the first international conference on wine tourism in the town of Alba in Piedmont, a region known for its top wines and gastronomy, and the representatives of the Herzegovina Wine Route, which was recently accepted into the European family of wine routes, took part in this conference.

Representatives from BiH visited Italy with the support of the USAID Tourism project.

As its president Emanuela Panke said, Iter Vitis will offer its partners the visibility of wine territories on international markets and support wine roads in finding partners for cooperation projects.

Iter Vitis is a cultural route of the Council of Europe dedicated to wine landscapes and the heritage of wine production.

“Also, it is important to create a common front for advocacy activities, showing that the wine roads must become interlocutors in order to be integrated into the planning and implementation phases of the rural development program,” said Panke, who at the beginning of this month also participated in the promotion of the Herzegovina Wine Route in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The past two years have brought major changes in wine tourism, with transformations in travel logistics, wine experience and consumer behavior. Many challenges and opportunities related to digitization, sustainability and international cooperation have come to the fore, the USAID Tourism project told FENA.

The meeting on the future of wine routes in the perspective of international wine tourism is held under the auspices of ENIT - the National Tourist Agency, Piedmont region, the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourism Board and the Alliance of Wine Routes and Tastes of Piedmont, within which the Herzegovina Wine Route was promoted in the presentation segment examples of good practice from around the world.

The Herzegovina Wine Route, a cultural route that encompasses the centuries-old tradition of wine production in the Herzegovina region, was accepted into the Council of Europe's "Iter Vitis" cultural route at the beginning of this month.
