SARAJEVO, September 6 (FENA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan assessed that relations between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina are at an exceptional level and that, in addition to political, military and economic relations, history, culture and human ties make those relations even stronger.

Erdogan said that the two delegations discussed the steps they can take to improve relations.

He also reminded that the General Elections will be held in BiH on October 2 and added that his visit before the elections is of great importance for his country.

Erdogan emphasized that Turkey pays great attention to the peace, prosperity and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"BiH is expecting an intense political agenda in the coming period, and it is of vital importance that the elections that will be held in BiH are transparent and constructive, and this is not only important for BiH, but also for the entire region," he said.

Promoting an election atmosphere that will contribute to the country's prosperity is particularly important for the peace and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"I want the election results to be beneficial for the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the consent of the parties and I repeat once again that Turkey will do its best for Bosnia and Herzegovina to overcome its problems," Erdogan said.

He explained that they discussed what they could do to improve bilateral trade, which reached 876 million dollars, with an increase of almost 35 percent compared to last year, and that they attach great importance to the construction of the Sarajevo-Belgrade motorway.

He emphasized that his colleagues pointed out to him the problems regarding that project, especially regarding some financial activities, and he pointed out that they indicated to the general director of Ziraat Bank how to eliminate the problems as soon as possible.

"It is a peace project that will connect not only the countries of the region, but also the peoples, and I believe that with this visit we have given new momentum to that strategic project," he pointed out.

Erdogan said that Turkey continues to provide development aid without conditioning and that they are working to ensure that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey can travel with identity cards alone between the two countries.

"We made that decision and our ministers of foreign affairs will do a follow-up on the necessary procedures," said Erdogan and added that he will sign the same agreement with Serbia tomorrow.
