BRUSSELS/SARAJEVO, September 4 (FENA) - The Federal News Agency (FENA) is the only agency from Bosnia and Herzegovina that is part of the "European Newsroom" project supported by the European Commission. The Newsroom starts its operation on September 6.
The European Newsroom (ENR) is a new and unique place - characterized by exchange, mutual understanding and diversity of the European continent. It is a place that brings together 18 news agencies that work on factual and independent reporting from and about Europe.
As the FENA Managing Director Elmir Huremović explained, from the perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this should be an important step towards improving access for BiH citizens to quality, unbiased and verified information on topics related to the European Union, but also an excellent tool and source of accurate and verified information for other media in BiH.
"Precisely verified and credible information is becoming an increasingly valuable commodity at a time when we are faced with a flood of misinformation. The participation of the largest European news agencies, including FENA, in this project, guarantees that the focus of the work of the European Newsroom will be on truthful reporting," he added.
He expressed satisfaction because FENA, as the leading news agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will contribute to the media coverage of all topics of importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina from Brussels, which is an important European and Euro-Atlantic center.
"FENA's news from Bosnia and Herzegovina will find its way more easily to the citizens of the European Union and the world through ENR, and this will strengthen the role of FENA as the most cited media from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I believe that this is a great step forward for the Agency on the international level," concluded Huremović.
European Newsroom is a joint initiative of DPA (coordinator, Germany), AFP (France), ANSA (Italy), AGERPRES (Romania), APA (Austria), ATA (Albania), Belga (Belgium), BTA (Bulgaria), EFE (Spain), Europa Press (Spain), FENA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), HINA (Croatia), MIA (North Macedonia), STA (Slovenia), Tanjug (Serbia) and TASR (Slovakia).
The ceremony, which will be held at the premises of the Belga News Agency, will be attended by the Vice President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas and about 200 dignitaries from the fields of politics, economy and media.
The ENR was officially launched on July 1 to strengthen cooperation and exchange among news agency correspondents, as Brussels is an important seat where regulations are passed that directly affect millions of people not only in EU member states, but also in EU aspiring countries, like Bosnia and Herzegovina.
