BIHAĆ, August 18 (FENA) - The Una National Park, as it was announced from the very beginning, has become a generator of development in the western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially the tourism and hospitality sector of the economy. At the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism sector was the most affected, but the National Park is returning to the regional and European markets thanks to the good work of management and quality promotion during the pandemic on the domestic market, and then during the past year.
“It was shown in 2022 that we had good estimates, analyses and assumptions. This yaear should be a record year for the Una National Park when it comes to number of visits and it is confirmed by the database we have. So, as of today, compared to the same period last year, we have an increase of about 10 percent. Therefore, this year is definitely at the level of 2019 when we achieved 120,000 visits, and as of today we have recorded 94,000 visits and by the end of the year we expect to exceed the figure from the record year 2019,” says Amarildo Mulić, Director of the Una National Park.
It is the result of many years of work and investment in the area of the Una National Park, the creation of the destination and its promotion. All this could not have happened, Director Mulić points out, if there was no support from the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
As for visits by country, the majority visitors are from BiH and the region, followed by the European Union and the rest of the world.
“Our domestic tourists participate with 30 percent of visits, as much as the European Union, while guests from the region participate with 20 percent of visits, tourists from the gulf countries 15 percent, while five percent are accounted for by other tourist markets which are not negligible and which will be present more in the future. Here we are talking about overseas countries such as the United States of America, that is, North America and Asia. We believe that the Asian market will open up more only after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, and therefore we will also have a greater influx of guests from those continents in the future, which is very important from a long-term and strategic point of view,” said the director of the Una National Park.
