'Bigger than Trauma' is a moving and emotional film in SFF competition program

Twenty-five years after the Croatian War of Independence, women who survived torture, rape and murder of loved ones are still traumatized. The film follows a group of participants in a three-year therapy program.

In a joint statement for FENA, producer and co-screenwriter Mirta Puhlovski and director and co-screenwriter Vedrana Pribačić said that the documentary "Bigger than Trauma" is their author's debut, and it tells about a group of women who lived with the wartime trauma of rape for years, and 25 years after the traumatic experiences, embarked on a comprehensive program of empowerment.

“That journey of body, mind and soul changed their lives. It is a touching and emotionally charged film, which guides the viewer through the process of transformation and inspires them to their own possibility of change, and offers them unexpected relief, which has already been confirmed by two audience awards. Trauma is often a burden that our descendants carry for us as well. We wanted to make this film for future generations, so that they would not be held back by transgenerational trauma. Our protagonists started this program because of their children,” said the authors of the film, adding that it is an exceptional honor for them to show the film at the Sarajevo Film Festival.

The film "Bigger than Trauma" will be screened on August 13 in the cinema "Cineplexx".
