SARAJEVO, August 11 (FENA) - The Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) with partners is dedicated to the mission "Net Zero by 30th Sarajevo Film Festival", that is, the desire and effort to make Sarajevo a city with zero pollution.
Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF), Jovan Marjanović, said at the press conference today that SFF has been dealing with the topic of human influence on the environment for a long time through its program content, especially within the documentary program.
“Today, we are trying in a concrete and specific way to support the idea of reducing harmful environmental impact, that is, the carbon footprint of the SFF organization itself. We do this with the great support of institutions and foundations, embassies and sponsors,” said Marjanović, adding that SFF had initiated a series of activities in this regard in previous years.
In addition to reducing the amount of printed materials, the waste separation and recycling program continues together with Coca-Cola, whereas digitalization of all work processes at the festival takes place with the help of BH-Telecom and many others.
“The goal is for SFF on its 30th anniversary to be a Net Zero free festival, that is, an ecologically acceptable event that will use all the best practices and methods,” added Marjanović.
Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karić and Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Edin Forto expressed their commitment to the common goal.
Neutrality of the emissions within the framework of the initiative, as Forto said, means zero pollution. This is not only about infrastructure and investments, but also raising awareness about this problem is of crucial importance.
Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, said that SFF is a true brand of this city and a symbol of its openness and perseverance.
“Environmental protection is an important topic and we all can and should contribute to such efforts. I am grateful and inspired by this initiative that, above all, the Festival undertakes such efforts, but also to increase the awareness of all of us that we can contribute and do something to reduce our carbon footprint individually,” added Sattler.
