SARAJEVO, August 4 (FENA) - The export value of the wood industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first six months of this year was 926.3 million KM, which is 171.7 million KM or 23 percent more than the export in the same period last year.
According to the data of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the largest increase in exports was recorded in forestry products, construction carpentry, sawn timber and elements, panels and veneers.
Furniture accounted for 37 percent of total exports and amounted to 344.7 million KM, that is, 4.2 million or one percent less compared to the first half of last year. Wooden and upholstered seats, furniture for living rooms and dining rooms, followed by wooden furniture for bedrooms and other wooden furniture were recorded as the most exported items.
Of the total export, 90 percent of the wood industry in the first six months of this year was realized in the top 20 export markets, among which Germany, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, the Netherlands and France are the most important export partners.
The top export market is Germany, where wood industry products worth 207.5 million KM were exported, which is 66.5 million KM or 47 percent more than last year. Exports to Serbia also increased significantly, by 62.7 million KM or 200 percent.
The wood sector participates in the total export of Bosnia and Herzegovina with ten percent, and in the total import with 2.1 percent. In the first six months of this year, a surplus of 640 million KM was realized, which is higher by 16.4 percent or about 90 million KM compared to the same period last year.
