Turković - Yotov: Bulgaria supports BiH's path towards EU and NATO

SARAJEVO, July 22 (FENA) - Bisera Turković, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, today received the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Valerij Ivanov Yotov, for an inaugural visit.

Minister Turković expressed her gratitude for the strong support and assistance of the Republic of Bulgaria to Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to the EU and NATO.

She pointed out that Bulgaria was the first country to recognize Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 15, 1992, before the referendum, and since then continues to support our country, especially when it comes to European integration.

She emphasized the importance of the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU, highlighting the importance of the soon-to-be-acquired candidate status for BiH as well as the continuation of the reform process.

The newly appointed Ambassador Yotov recalled the importance of the European perspective of the Western Balkans for the promotion of peace, stability, security and prosperity of the entire region.

He expressed his support for BiH's progress in the EU and NATO, as well as the continuation of the implementation of reforms. He invited Minister Turković to an official visit to Sofia, and expressed the hope that holding consultations between the MFA of BiH and the MFA of the Republic of Bulgaria will contribute to the dynamics of improving bilateral relations between the two countries.
