SARAJEVO, July 17 (FENA) - Three women, Elma Kablar from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoe Hamel from France and Josephine Mintel from the United States of America, completed the unique undertaking of crossing the White Trail of Via Dinarica BiH and walked almost 330 kilometers of mountain paths.

For them, they say, it was an excellent test of mental and physical strength, a good way to get to know the culture and nature of BiH, because this mega trail is much more than hiking. Along the way, they got to know themselves and understood the values in life, got to know the country's culture and realized how unimportant everyday problems are.

“Return to nature and a true understanding of the essence of life. What is important is that man should return to nature - it is life. We need to protect and preserve what we have, and we have a lot,” said Kablar in an interview with FENA.

Over the course of two weeks, the three of them crossed the entire White Trail of Via Dinarica Bosnia and Herzegovina with a length of almost 330 kilometers, using the thru-hiking technique with a combination of fast hiking and mountain running, starting from the eastern border of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards Montenegro and moving towards the western border with Croatia.

The goal of this undertaking was to familiarize with the route and promote the White Trail Via Dinarica BiH, as well as the local communities where it passes, in order to inspire BiH citizens and tourists to use this trail for outdoor activities.

They were guided by the principles of "leave no trace" and "less is more" (#reduce #reuse #recycle) and thus minimized the negative impact on the course and the nature they passed.

On June 16, they started their journey to the valley of Suha (Dry) towards Trnovačko Lake at the foot of the Mountain Maglić, they spent the night at the Mountain Lodge near Trnovačko Lake, where you can order food and drinks. The next day, they started Via Dinarica White Trail via Prijevor towards Donje Bare. There they were caught by a downpour and had to go to Tjentište, and when the rain stopped they returned to the trail.

On Monday, June 20, they set off for Ljuta, which is 31 kilometers away. The first stop was Kalinovik, then the peak of Lukovac (1768m) to the final destination Ljuta. They spent the night at the "Oko Treskavica" rural household, and the very next day they left for the Vrela mountain lodge on the Mountain Visočica.

That day was extremely hot, so they had to refresh themselves at every spring they passed. They covered about 15 kilometers and more than 1,000 meters above sea level.

Wednesday, June 22, was reserved for the village of Lukomir on Mount Bjelašnica via the peak of Vito, the canyon of Rakitnica and Bobovica, which is a total of 18 kilometers that had to be crossed. They spent the night in Lukomir.

The next day, they headed for Boračko Lake. They needed to cross 30 kilometers.

Monday, June 27, was the day they received information from the French embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina that part of the funds for the project had been approved, and it was the day they continued their ten-kilometer journey to the Plasa Mountain Lodge.

The next day, they had a 28-kilometer long journey to the Blidinje Nature Park and Hajdučka vrata on the Mountain Čvrsnica, from where the view is breathtaking. Then they headed towards the Vilinac Mountain Lodge, which unfortunately was closed, therefore they continued their journey to the top of Veliki Vilinac (2113m).

After this undertaking, the project leaders plan to organize workshops and trainings for women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of training and preparing them for thru hiking and fast hiking along the entire trail in several stages, so that a much larger number of women will participate in this undertaking next year.

The organizer of the project is sports association Modern Escape Europe, which is dedicated to activities in the field of sports, ecology, tourism, organizing competitions and sports activities, as well as the affirmation of trail running, hiking, healthy lifestyle habits and running as a sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Europe and the world.
