SARAJEVO, June 22 (FENA) - A meeting was held at the Prosecutor's Office of BiH by the acting Chief Prosecutor Milanko Kajganić, with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, her associates and officials of the UN Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Considering the focus of the visit of a high-ranking UN official, the promotion of human rights protection, the central topics of the meeting were the work of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of strengthening the rule of law and the protection of human rights of victims and injured persons, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH announced.
The acting Cheif Prosecutor informed Bachelet about the activities of the Prosecutor's Office in all areas of the institution's work, including cases of gender equality, prosecution of hate speech crimes, protection of the migrant population in cases of illegal migration, and protection of victims, witnesses, and victims in all areas.
Furthermore, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH is competent by law for criminal offenses related to the Election Process in BiH, so the acting Chief Prosecutor briefed UN officials on efforts to protect the integrity, and legality, and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina's upcoming election process in the coming months.
The joint conclusion of the meeting is that the protection of human rights is a very important segment of the work of judicial institutions, as well as the process of preserving democratic standards in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the statement said.
