SARAJEVO, March 18 (FENA) - The verdict of the High Court in Belgrade is a shameful blow to justice for Osman Osmanović, and will have severe consequences for relations between BiH and Serbia, said BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović.
“The whole process against Osmanović was conducted contrary to the agreement concluded by the judicial authorities of the two countries. If law and justice had been respected, Osmanović would have been extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina in order for the BiH judiciary to investigate the allegations against him,” he said.
Džaferović pointed out that having in mind the assessments made by the European courts on the approach of the Serbian judiciary in the Divjak and Ganić cases, it cannot be claimed that Osmanović, as a defender of BiH from the period of aggression, had fair treatment before the Serbian judiciary.
Furthermore, BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović states that Serbia has been determined as an aggressor against Bosnia and Herzegovina in several international court rulings, and it was pointed out that its wartime leadership, led by Slobodan Milošević, led a joint criminal enterprise to eliminate non-Serbs from parts of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The fact that Serbia does not prosecute and refuses to extradite suspects for organizing and committing genocide in Srebrenica, such as Tomislav Kovač, Svetozar Kosorić or Radoslav Janković, and protects convicted criminal Novak Djukić, best shows that Serbia is a state that does not prosecute, but protects criminals,” Džaferović concludes in a written statement, the Presidency of BiH announces.
