SARAJEVO, December 16 (FENA) - The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH) urges Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković to ask the heads of diplomatic and consular missions (DKP) to submit a report on activities undertaken to promote Bosnia and Herzegovina's interests and gaining international support for the protection of the sovereignty and integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"We ask Minister Turković, in accordance with her competencies, to call to account BiH consuls and ambassadors who are extremely well paid for the work of international affirmation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the strategic interests of our country. We make this call after communicating with our partners and friends, primarily from the Party of European Socialists, acquainted with the worryingly low or non-existent engagement of the state diplomatic network at a time when gaining international support is crucial for the survival and stability of our country," it is said in a statement from SDP BiH.
They emphasize that the condition and functioning of the DKP network was at a worrying level even before the current crisis due to the appointment of a number of incompetent persons to ambassadorial and consular positions, along with the members of SNSD. They were appointed unanimously by the Presidency of BiH, expressly after the 2018 elections, dismissing the ambassadors previously proposed by the current opposition in the RS entity.
The SDP believes that the consequences of appointing people who do not have basic knowledge and experience in diplomacy and those who openly work against the state is a complete collapse of the reputation and importance of our BiH DKP network. They believe that it is high time to bring order and responsibility in this area, the Press Service of SDP BiH said in a statement.
