SARAJEVO, January 4 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović believes that messages coming from the institutions of the Republic of Serbia these days are extremely worrying and are directed against the Bosniak people and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“First, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia presented the decoration to the criminal Vinko Pandurević, who was convicted before an international court for crimes committed within the genocide in July 1995. Shortly afterwards, a scandalous and shameful video of members of the Serbian police singing songs glorifying the Srebrenica genocide and openly threatening Sandžak Bosniaks with new Srebrenica and Vukovar was published,” Džaferović told FENA.
He points out that such messages come from key security institutions in Serbia. He claims that the highest state leadership, led by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, tacitly approved the first event.
“The second was accompanied only by a lukewarm and vague reaction, which indicates a very dangerous mood towards Bosniaks in Serbian institutions. Considering that such signals are accompanied by the constant arming of Serbia and the belligerent rhetoric of the Serbian Interior Minister, it is clear that the establishment in Belgrade still refuses to truly break with the past, and dreaming of the 90s creates new threats to peace in the region, holding the citizens of neighboring countries hostage and preventing the building of normal relations and the European future,” concluded Džaferović.
