SARAJEVO, December 10 (FENA) – The Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10, the day when the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The Declaration proclaims the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
The Declaration is the foundation of today's international human rights system and, for the first time, it states the basic human rights and freedoms that belong to every human being by birth, without discrimination.
Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milos Lučić said that he remains committed to respecting human rights and freedoms, democracy, rule of law and equality, which should be the foundation of society and public policies, including those aimed at fighting the pandemic and social recovery.
“The human rights record in our society is not satisfactory and different categories of the population face this problem every day, and the pandemic has additionally contributed to that. As a society, we must build and raise the level of individual and collective consciousness every day in order to help the vulnerable categories to join all social flows and enjoy guaranteed human rights because all human beings are born equal and free in dignity and rights,” said Lučić, the BiH Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees announced.
