Nikšić: SDP will not give up on implementing all judgments of Strasbourg Court

SARAJEVO, December 6 (FENA) - President of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH) Nermin Nikšić hosted Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Jan Waltmans today at the party's premises in Sarajevo.

In a discussion on recent activities, Nikšić informed Ambassador Waltmans on the diplomatic initiative undertaken by the SDP BiH in parliamentary institutions, as well as in diplomatic circles in the EU.

According to the SDP, Nikšić used the opportunity to present the views of the SDP BiH, which follow the best practices of the European acquis on human rights, and to act accordingly in the talks held these days with representatives of the international community regarding changes Election Law and the Constitution of BiH.

Nikšić said that the SDP is not giving up on implementing all the verdicts in Strasbourg, equal voting rights, as well as insisting on greater transparency in the voting process.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Waltmans pointed out that the Netherlands advocates for the reforms of the electoral system and the BiH Constitution that will respect all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, meet all EU standards, ODIHR and GRECO recommendations.

Waltmans also stressed that reforms should not lead to new ethnic divisions in BiH.
