MOSTAR, December 3 (FENA) - President of the Croat People's Assembly in BiH (HNS) Dragan Čović said in Mostar on Friday that Croats have a clear position that they will not change or justify to anyone.
"As for the national or ethnic determinant or prefix, we are ready to delete all prefixes from the Constitution, but we are not ready to delete the names of the constituent peoples. The name 'Croat' cannot be deleted from the Constitution, regardless of whether it is the Presidency, the House of Peoples or other institutions. There is no elimination of the concept of constitutiveness from the Constitution," Čović stated after the session of the Presidency of the HNS, at which the current negotiations were discussed when it comes to changes to the Election Law of BiH.
He emphasized that Croats must be sure that they will elect their own representatives, which Čović said was supported by "the majority of pro-Bosnian parties with which talks were held".
He pointed out the fact that party negotiations would not have taken place without the partners from the European Union and the US administration.
"The tactic of Mr. Izetbegović and the SDA has been to avoid talks for a year and a half, avoid any agreement and keep the status quo," concluded Čović.
