SARAJEVO, December 1 (FENA) - BiH Defense Minister Sifet Podžić and his associates talked today with the Minister of State at the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Baroness Annabel Goldie, who is visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Baroness Goldie was accompanied by the British Ambassador to BiH Matthew Field, S. Gregory, Baroness Goldie's personal secretary, as well as Colonel Andrew Tait Scots, the United Kingdom's military attaché to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Minister welcomed Baroness Goldie and thanked for the honor to attend the ceremony marking the Day of the Armed Forces of BiH, an event important for all members of the MoD and AF BiH, but also all citizens and peoples in our country.
He also pointed out that the United Kingdom is one of the strategic partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially its defense institutions.
At the meeting, the guests were informed about the current activities of the MoD and AF BiH, and discussed the degree of implementation of activities from the Reform Program, cooperation with NATO, activities related to dealing with surplus weapons and ammunition, demining activities, and other important topics for defense.
The talks emphasized the exceptional bilateral military cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom, within which the Ministry of Defense of that country provides assistance and support to numerous activities and projects of the Armed Forces of BiH.
The role and support of the Government of the United Kingdom in the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1425 'Women, Peace and Security' is unavoidable, where with the support of that country a number of events were held in the MoD and AF BiH related to this topic. In support of peace, several topics have been included that promote the area, it is stated.
With the help and support of Great Britain, the Combat Training Center of the AF BiH in Manjača received innovative equipment at the end of last month and today Baroness Goldie handed over another valuable donation to the BiH Armed Forces.
Baroness Goldie thanked Minister Podžić for receiving and useful information related to the activities of the MoD and AF BiH, and once again emphasized the support of the Government of the UK to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic path of our country, announced the BiH Ministry of Defense.
