SARAJEVO, November 8 (FENA) - The US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar spoke in Sarajevo with officials of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In addition to reiterating the message expressed in previous official meetings in Sarajevo today - that the US administration will not allow any stories about endangering peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Escobar told the FBiH authorities that the focus should be on economic development and growth of economic parameters, i.e. living standards, said after the meeting the Speaker of the House of Representatives Mirsad Zaimović, appreciating the meeting as constructive and meaningful and the guest's messages as encouraging.
According to Zaimović, the hosts expressed concern over the current political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which creates uncertainty for potential investors, and pointed to the departure of young educated people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, dissatisfied with the economic situation in the country where some still talk about a potential war.
Speaker of the House of Peoples Tomislav Martinović was very pleased with the meeting with the US official.
According to him, they also talked about amendments to the Election Law in BiH in order to create conditions for fair elections in BiH, and the hosts informed Escobar about the very unpleasant political situation in the country.
When asked whether they talked with Escobar why the new government has not yet been formed in the Federation of BiH, although it has been a long time since the last general elections in the country, the head of the House of Representatives Zaimović said that Escobar indicated in the introduction that he was most interested in economic themes and insufficient growth rates in a country aspiring to European membership.
