Sattler and Nelson to attend the launch of BiH Citizens' Assembly tomorrow

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 3 (FENA) - The EU in BiH has launched the Citizens' Assembly, an innovative model of deliberative democracy, which offers a unique opportunity for BiH citizens to directly express their views on constitutional and electoral reforms, to recommend concrete solutions to eliminate discriminatory provisions of the BiH Constitution and to improve the Election Law.

This process is based on two rounds of random selection of citizens as a representative sample of the country's population. During the preparatory phase of the process, which ended in August this year, the first round was completed. The letter, signed by the ambassadors of the EU, the US and the OSCE Mission to BiH, was sent to 4,000 randomly selected households, inviting citizens to express their interest in participating in the BiH Citizens' Assembly by registering via the website www.skupstinagradjana.ba.

The second round of random selection of citizens will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Sarajevo, at the International Center for Children and Youth in Grbavica (Kemala Kapetanovića 17), a place adapted to comply with the Covid-19 measures. Among those who have applied to participate in the BiH Citizens' Assembly, the final group of a total of 57 members of the Assembly will be randomly selected with the help of computer software and a draw.

Before the start of the event, at 11.00, there will be statements for the media by the EU Ambassador to BiH Johann Sattler, the US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson and the Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH Dmitry Iordanidi.

The event will start at 11.30 am and will be open to the public (live broadcast) and the media via the EU's Facebook page in BiH, the event's Facebook page and the Zoom platform at the link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/ 82032877441?
