SARAJEVO, October 28 (FENA) - Within the USAID / INSPIRE Human Rights Support Program, agreements were signed with non-governmental organizations in Sarajevo today in order to carry out activities in the fight against human trafficking. The value of the agreement is 660,000 KM.

The USAID Mission Director in BiH Courtney Chubb said that agreements have been signed with four NGOs - the Otaharin Association of Citizens for the Promotion of Roma Education, the EMMAUS International Solidarity Forum, the West Herzegovina Canton Red Cross and the Women's Rights Center.

"Grants were awarded to these organizations today. These organizations have taken on the challenging task of protecting and supporting victims of trafficking, Chubb said.

The United States government has long been committed to supporting BiH in the fight against human trafficking.

"We did that, together with BiH, by ensuring the harmonization of laws with international standards and supporting their efforts. We also provided direct support to victims of trafficking and monitored the implementation of these laws and policies. BiH has strengthened its capacity to help victims of trafficking," Chubb added.

Over the next four years, USAID / INSPIRE will allocate a total of USD 2 million to NGO projects to help reduce human trafficking in BiH.
