SARAJEVO, October 14 (FENA) - Professor Denis Bećirović, Ph.D., this evening promoted his news book at the Sarajevo City Hall titled "Territorial Expansionism of Serbia at the expense of Bosnia and Herzegovina (1804-2020)".

It is a scientific and research endeavor that is the result of many years of research both in the archives in the country and abroad.

"The task of the social humanities is not only to scratch the surface but also to discover deeper structures. In that sense, this book tries to give a scientific answer to certain things that are still very relevant today. The policy of territorial expansionism of Serbia towards BiH is very much present today.

The essential message of this book is that the territorial expansionism of Serbia has been a constant generator of evil in this region, which has been causing destabilization and unrest in Southeast Europe for a long time.

Also, this has been a substantially constant and an essential determinant of Serbia's policy towards the state of BiH. The epilogue of that territorial expansionism of Serbia has been catastrophic, as one can see in the hundreds of thousands of killed people, millions expelled from their homes, and numerous destroyed cities and settlements," Bećirović told FENA.

He says that the book has another message, and that is that the future of BiH and Serbia should be built on the basis of mutual respect and understanding, cooperation on equal footing, and not on tensions and territorial claims of Serbia at the expense of BiH.

One of the promoters, prof. dr. Mirko Pejanović pointed out that the book represents an important historical study and was made on the basis of archival and research of relevant literature.

"This is a rare book that deals with a historical phenomenon and that is the attitude of Serbia towards BiH, especially in the context of territorial claims towards BiH. Three historical periods are covered, the 19th century, the 20th century, and especially the 20th century and the period of aggression on BiH and the period after the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The author came to very important insights and conclusions, and the book will be of great benefit to students of humanities and social sciences, the scientific public and everyone who deals with the social development of BiH," said Pejanović.
