HoR of FBiH Parliament adopts amendments to the Nature Protection Act

FENA Vernera Jakupović

SARAJEVO, September 27 (FENA) - The draft law on amendments to the Nature Protection Act was adopted by a majority vote today at the session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.

As the FBiH departmental minister Edita Đapo explained to the deputies, the changes remove some ambiguities in the application of the current law in that area, and the most important ones refer to the need to revise the 'red list' of endangered natural species to be protected; some of them still need to be added to such a list, and some removed.

Amendments to the current law define the conditions for the employment of supervisory structures in companies in charge of managing protected natural areas and prohibit the extraction of tufa from rivers, i.e. to prevent pollution and such exploitation of the natural resources.

According to the explanation of Minister Đapo, the competence of inspections has been strengthened and the penalties for violators of nature protection regulations have been increased.
