FBiH - 1.85 million employable persons, 46.7 percent active on the labor market

SARAJEVO, September 22 (FENA) - In the second quarter of 2021, there were 1,856,000 employable persons in the FBiH, of whom 867,000 were economically active or 46.7 percent, and 990,000 people were out of the labor force or 53.3 percent.

Of the total working-age population, 696,000 were employed or 37.5 percent, and 170,000 unemployed or 9.2 percent, according to the results of the Labor Force Survey for the second quarter of 2021, published by the FBiH Statistics Institute. 

The number of employees increased by 2.5 percent compared to the first quarter, and the number of unemployed decreased by 5.0 percent.

Of the total number of unemployed, 85,000 or 49.6 percent are men and 86,000 or 50.4 percent are women.

In the second quarter of 2021, the activity rate was 46.7 percent, the employment rate 37.5 percent and the unemployment rate 19.7 percent.

In terms of gender, there are almost twice as many active men as the number of active women. The male activity rate was 59.8 percent, while the female activity rate was 34.2 percent.

The same applies to the employment rate, with 50.4 percent for men and 25.2 percent for women.

The unemployment rate for men was 15.6 percent and for women 26.3 percent.
