Director of RS Public Health Institute Zeljković ordered into one-month custody

BANJA LUKA, September 19 (FENA) - Banja Luka District Court - Special Department for Corruption, Organized and Serious Forms of Economic Crime ordered detention measures for Branislav Zeljković, director of the Republika Srpska Institute of Public Health, and three others suspected of abuse during the procurement procedures conducted by the Institute.

The suspects are to be remanded in custody for a month.

"The acting judge for the previous procedure of the District Court in Banja Luka issued a decision by which the suspects, due to the existence of reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of misuse of official position or authority of the Criminal Code of the entity of Republika Srpska, the criminal offense of abuse of official position or the act of misuse in the public procurement procedure, the criminal offense of misuse of official position or authority to assist, are ordered into detention which may last for a maximum of one month, and which detention is to be counted starting from the hour of imprisonment," it is stated in a statement from the District Court in Banja Luka.

The defense of the accused announced an appeal against this decision.
