SARAJEVO, August 31 (FENA) - The fact that the number of people infected with coronavirus is increasing as well as the number of hospitalized shows that measures must be improved and that as many people as possible need to get vaccinated, said today the acting director of the Public Health Institute of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Siniša Skočibušić.

Today, he attended a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, the Deputy Prime Ministers of the FBiH, the Minister of Health, the Prime Ministers and Ministers of Health of the ten cantons and the directors of cantonal public health institutes.

Skočibušić says that a certain number of people have been vaccinated in the Federation of BiH, emphasizing that the process has been delayed, which is why it is necessary to motivate as many people as possible because it is the only way to return to normalcy since everyone wants to work and live without restrictions.

"We, in the Federation of BiH, are not an isolated island and we must monitor how others behave in Europe where the measures are more restrictive than those we apply. The best flexibility that the FBiH Government wants to promote is the way it works in the public system. This means how cafes, restaurants, theaters and cinemas will be open, as well as places where people gather in general," added Skočibušić.

He emphasized that there is a sufficient number of vaccines that are regularly distributed, and in the past two months the number of vaccinated has doubled but much remains to be done to get even more people vaccinated.

Currently, 17.46 percent of the population has been vaccinated with the first dose, while just over 10 percent has received both doses of the vaccine, and those are the people who have been vaccinated within the FBiH health system.

He also provided the data that currently 10 percent of the hospitalized patients had two doses of the vaccine, while 90 percent of the hospitalized have not been vaccinated at all.
