SARAJEVO, August 5 (FENA) - The exhibition of photographs "Alija Izetbegović, friends and associates", realized by the Public Institution "Alija Izetbegović" Museum in cooperation with the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, was opened today in the gallery of that municipality.
The exhibition provides an interesting approach to the mutual relations between Alija Izetbegović and the people with whom the first President of the Presidency of the Republic of BiH maintained private and business contact.
Director of the "Alija Izetbegović" Museum, Nadja Berberović-Dizdarević, said at today's opening that the exhibition symbolically marked the date of Alija Izetbegović's birth.
“The photos were taken from the private archives of the Izetbegović family. At the exhibition with Alija Izetbegović, you can see athletes, politicians, musicians, artists, humanists, diplomats. The exhibition tries to show Izetbegović not only as a statesman and politician, but also as a family man, thinker, philosopher, lawyer, who was an avid book reader, a European Muslim who appreciated and enjoyed art, sports and culture,” said Berberović-Dizdarević.
She added that Alija Izetbegović had a charisma that stems from a combination of calm, inner strength, stability and wisdom.
The photographs were taken during one of the most difficult periods for the survival of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and were accompanied by statements and quotations that remain as a testimony of one time.
The exhibition will be open from August 5 to 17.
