SARAJEVO, July 22 (FENA) - Chair of the caucus of the Democratic Front (DF) in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Đenan Đonlagić confirmed in a statement for FENA that, as a member of the Interdepartmental Working Group for Amendments to the BiH Election Legislation, he submitted a proposal of the amendments to the Election Law which they submitted in February last year.
"The goal is to eliminate all types of discrimination against citizens on the basis of ethnicity, place of residence and to have an equal value of the vote for all," said Đonlagić.
As he pointed out, the proposal is in accordance with the Opinion of the European Commission, the resolution of the European Parliament, the position of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
"All judgments of the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg are being implemented through the proposed amendments. This means that every citizen has the right to run and be elected. Ethnic determinants in the elections for the Presidency of BiH are being deleted, and the role of the House of Peoples is reduced to clearly defined and listed issues of vital national interest," Đonlagić emphasized.
He assessed as inadmissible the cementing of the ethnic concept of running and voting in the elections, which, he added, is not in line with the judgments of the Court in Strasbourg which is "our international obligation to move forward towards the EU".
"It is good that as of today, we know what proposals came from which political parties and what the goals are. And if it was not clear to anyone until now who wants what, as of today it is!
The HDZ has gone a step further in ethnic cementing and is now demanding that the name of the HDZ candidate be incorporated into the Election Law and the BiH Constitution. What they have proposed is the rebirth of the para-statelet of 'Herceg Bosna', a project that has been declared a joint criminal enterprise before the court in The Hague. This must not and shall not pass," concluded a member of the Interdepartmental Working Group for Amendments to the Election Legislation of BiH, Dženan Đonlagić.
