SARAJEVO/BAKU, June 9 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović met today in Baku, during an official visit to Azerbaijan, with the President of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova.
The two officials stated that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan are good and friendly, which is confirmed by a number of signed bilateral agreements including those on twin cities between the two countries.
President of the National Assembly, Gafarova expressed gratitude to Izetbegović and Bosnia and Herzegovina for their support to Azerbaijan during the last liberation war and pointed out that reconciliation and engagement in the implementation of infrastructure projects in the liberated territory are a priority for that country.
They also discussed the possibilities of improving cooperation through the signing of new bilateral agreements and intensification of communication between the representatives of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan.
Gafarova and Izetbegović emphasized that the geographical position of the two countries is favorable for the improvement of economic cooperation, and they discussed the implementation of specific projects in the fields of metal, construction and special-purpose industries, energy, and the establishment of a direct airlink between Sarajevo and Baku.
The establishment of diplomatic missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Azerbaijan was also discussed, based on the recent decisions of the competent institutions of the two countries.
Izetbegović congratulated the hosts on the reintegration of their territory and invited President Gafarova and a delegation of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
