SARAJEVO, March 25 (FENA) - The first quantity of vaccines for Bosnia and Herzegovina through the COVAX mechanism has been delivered today to the Sarajevo International Airport, and as Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Ankica Gudeljević said, BiH welcomed the day when the first delivery of vaccines ordered through the COVAX mechanism arrived.
BiH received 23,400 doses of BioNTech / Pfizer vaccines, and as she announced, 26,400 doses of "AstraZeneca" vaccines should be delivered through the COVAX mechanism this evening.
The vaccines that arrived in BiH, after the customs have completed their procedure, will be forwarded to the Federation of BiH, the Republika Srpska and the Brčko District.
“We have already prepared and submitted all the necessary documentation so that the customs can do their job as soon as possible and so that the vaccines can leave the airport as soon as possible,” Gudeljević emphasized.
She expressed hope that in the coming period, the rest of the vaccines will arrive at regular intervals and in quantities that will meet the needs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“For now, there are no exact dates when the rest of the vaccines could be delivered to BiH, but when we receive official information about it, the public will be informed. We expect to receive a slightly larger amount of vaccines in April than the one that arrived today,” she underlined.
