SARAJEVO, February 19 (FENA) - The Institute of Language of the University of Sarajevo is once again organizing the traditional event Days of the Institute of Language. The event lasts for a month, from February 21 to March 21, and includes a number of activities. The International Mother Language Day will also be marked, it was said at the press conference held on that occasion in Sarajevo.

Director of the Institute, Alen Kalajdžija, expressed his satisfaction that this year, for the fifth time in a row, Institute of Language of the University of Sarajevo is organizing the Days of the Institute.

“In the past five years, we have had a number of different activities, from scientific conferences to extremely important and valuable cooperation with colleagues from the region from similar institutions. These are language institutes in Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Macedonia,” said Kalajdžija.

He said that "when we talk about the International Mother Language Day, then the problem of language recognition certainly comes to the fore, that is, the question of how much there is a will in our BiH society to simply recognize and support and respect each other in our own language traditions."

“It is this manifestation and general activities of the Institute of Language, in addition to the basic scientific research, that also aims to promote linguistic tolerance and linguistic democracy,” said Kalajdžija.

Marking of the International Mother Language Day will be organized with the presentation of the documentary film of the Institute of Langiage "Language, Man, Society" on Monday, February 22, in grammar school “Druga gimnazija” in Sarajevo.

He emphasized that it is important to develop language awareness among the younger population, first of all to develop in the area of language tolerance and democracy, and also to develop in the sense that every individual, and every representative of a certain language in BiH should love that language and one should live with that language, that language should be a reflection of his/her identity, which does not mean we should endanger the rights of others.

He added that they had prepared a leaflet for Bosnian speakers about important facts about the Bosnian language.

Research associate at the Institute Jasmin Hodžić presented online lectures with visiting professors.

Dr. Besmir Fidahić will speak on the topic "Language Justice and Language Imperialism". The aim of this lecture will be to encourage younger researchers to examine language in the context of social relations through the theories presented.

As part of the program in Banja Luka, a public tribune "Tradition of the Bosnian language" will be organized, where the director of the Institute, Alen Kalajdžija, will address the participants.
