USAID launches a project to develop sustainable tourism in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 24 (FENA) - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is launching a five-year Developing Sustainable Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina project.

US Ambassador Eric Nelson will address the introductory speech on the first day of the two-day event via webinar. The addresses of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac, the Minister of Environment and Tourism of FBiH Edita Đapo, and the Minister of Trade and Tourism of RS Suzana Gašić were also announced for the first day.

USAID Mission Director in BiH Nancy Eslick will host the presentation of the project on the first day and will give an introductory speech on the second day of the event.

The goal of the five-year project worth 20 million USD is to support far-reaching economic development driven by tourism and to promote social harmony through the natural activation of BiH's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. By encouraging cooperation between all levels of government, the economy and local communities, the project will support the recovery of the tourism sector in BiH from the negative impact of the pandemic, USAID said.
