Dervišević: Only truth and justice can contribute to recovery of man in BiH

SARAJEVO/THE HAGUE, December 26 (FENA) - Conceptual artist Almir Dervišević realized another installation in The Hague, and the venue was the International Criminal Court for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague (ICTY).

It’s called ‘Installation: Bosnia and Herzegovina is a place of genocide ', and the author used a mirror and a written word with lessons' that all of us, especially the courts, make decisions based on the truth that will satisfy justice'.

“We need to see in the mirror what is, not what we want to be. Numerous crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, numerous citizens who are continuously humiliated as well as the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina point to the need for certain decisions and relations to be thoroughly reconsidered, if there is a desire and goal for overall development,” he said.

Due to weather and other circumstances, he did not fully realize the installation in the way he had imagined. However, in his opinion, it is enough to send a clear message. This installation was realized within his project 'Justice for Bosnia and Herzegovina'.

“I believe that only truth and justice can contribute to the recovery of man in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Only on the basis of truth and justice can we hope for a better future. We can hope for the return of neglected values, the return of man to man, the return of man to himself,” he stressed.

Almir Dervišević had, among other things, earlier within the project "Justice for BiH, bus stop International Court of Justice" many installations such as the work "Justice for all, all for justice", which translates the sentence into dozens of languages.

Conceptual artist Almir Dervišević was born in 1972 in Sarajevo and currently lives and works in the Netherlands. He was educated at the College of Applied Arts in Utrecht and the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, in the class of Professor Mustafa Skopljak. In the period 1994-2004, he studied at the departments of architecture, fine arts and the teaching department. He graduated in 2000 as aa artist in the field of sculpture, and in 2004 in the teaching department and acquired the title of assistant professor of fine arts.
