SARAJEVO, December 10 (FENA) - President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPCBiH) Milan Tegeltija announced today that he would resign next week, after the scheduled session of that institution.

He announced the decision at a press conference in Banja Luka, in accordance with one of the conclusions from last week's extraordinary session of the HJPC, at which the majority of Council members demanded his resignation.

In the explanation of his resignation, Tegeltija reiterated the already known views on the alleged threat to his security, illegal para-intelligence activities and pressures to which he was exposed and, as he stated, attempts to discredit, demonize and dehumanize him, for which he primarily accused the Party of Democratic Action and a circle of people close to that political party.

He denied involvement in any corrupt practices, referring to the two known cases of corruption scandals in which he was involved.

He pointed out that he was resigning from the position of president, but also a member of the HJPC BiH, as well as a member of the Commission for taking the bar exam at the state level within the BiH Ministry of Justice, and announced that his resignation could be expected to all the judicial functions he holds, because, as he said, he is "no longer sure that he can and wants to be part of the judicial system in such circumstances, complete lawlessness at the level of BiH."

At the same time, he said that he did not trust the HJPC, stating, among other things, that the RS Entity Sub-Council in that regulatory body consists of five members, including him, "which means that the members from the RS have no capacity to influence such a balance of power, or any decision, because the Council decides by a simple majority of votes, i.e., eight out of 15 votes are required”.

Tegeltija expressed his expectation that members of the current convocation of the HJPC - Goran Nezirović, Slavo Lakić, Berina Alihodžić, Selim Karamehić and Biljana Simeunović would also resign.
