SARAJEVO, December 10 (FENA) - The DANOVA project was presented today at the Sarajevo International Airport, the main goal of which is to improve the accessibility of airports, seaports, and bus and train stations for blind and partially sighted passengers.
DANOVA (innovative transport services for blind and partially sighted passengers in the Danube region) is a transnational cooperation project co-financed by the Danube Transnational Interreg Program and is one of the goals of the European Territorial Cooperation Program funded by the European Union.
There are more than 30 million blind and partially sighted people in Europe who are unable to travel on their own, as more than 96 percent of the transport system in Europe, especially in the Danube region, is not yet fully accessible to people with visual impairments. According to some estimates, there are about 5,000 blind and partially sighted people in BiH.
The 30-month project (from 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2022) and with a total budget of 2,192,546 euros brings together partners from nine different countries motivated to work together to make transport infrastructure more accessible.
