SARAJEVO, November 15 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović told reporters in Sarajevo tonight that based on between 90 and 95 percent of the votes counted after the local elections, the SDA lost Sarajevo but won Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He noted that these days the votes will come by mail and will be collected by mobile teams, but he also congratulated all the mayors who won and wished them good luck.
He says that the SDA won mayoral positions in 30 municipalities in BiH, which means it's convincingly the strongest party, and that the results are similar to those in 2016 after the local elections, while the united four won 11 mayoral positions, meaning that the SDA has three times more positions and has the most votes in municipal councils.
He says that they have won new mayoral positions in five municipalities, including Visoko, Breza, Živinice, Bosanki Petrovac, and Banovići, and that they are currently leading in Kalesija, noting that the SDA should win eight new mayoral positions.
However, he emphasizes that the SDA lost in the municipalities of Sarajevo Canton: Centar, Novo Sarajevo, and Ilidža, as well as in Jablanica, Donji Vakuf, Ustikolina, and Čelinec.
"We have lost three important municipalities. It was difficult to renew the mandate in eight of the nine municipalities of Sarajevo Canton. It is difficult to keep that because everyone united against us," Izetbegović added.
"Our candidate who unfortunately passed away won in Travnik and I think that the elections in that municipality will have to be repeated," concluded SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović.
