Bosnian Serb fighter Brane Petković indicted for war crimes in Goražde area

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 12 (FENA) - The BiH state prosecution filed an indictment on Thursday charging Brane Petković, the former commander of the municipal Territorial Defence headquarters in the 'Serb Municipality of Goražde', for failing to undertake necessary and reasonable measures to prevent war crimes against the civilian population in Lozje (also known as Kokino Selo) in May 1992.

The attack on the village on 22 May 1992, resulted in deaths, severe injuries and inhumane treatment, the indictment said.

“At least 16 Bosniaks were killed. During the same attack, seven Bosniak men were captured, taken away in an unknown direction and killed,” it is stated in the indictment.

The remains of the men who were taken away were found in a mass grave in Šišeta in the Goražde municipality in March 1993.

The indictment has been submitted to the State Court for confirmation, BIRN reports.
