In nine months of 2020, the volume of BiH foreign trade decreased by 15 percent

SARAJEVO, November 9 (FENA) - In the first nine months of 2020, Bosnia and Herzegovina recorded a decline in the volume of foreign trade of 3.5 billion KM, or 15 percent compared to the same period last year.

At today's press conference at the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH in Sarajevo, it was pointed out that exports from BiH amounted to 7.8 billion KM and have decreased by 13 percent, while imports amounted to 12.5 billion KM and have decreased by 16 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

The import-export ratio in that period amounted to 62.1 percent and it increased by two percent.

Also, the FTC stated that the total balance of foreign trade was reduced by 20 percent and amounts to 4.7 billion KM.

The most important country in the total volume of trade was Croatia with 15.53 percent, followed by Serbia with 13.43 percent, Germany with 11.53 percent, Slovenia with 8.88 percent and Italy with 8.61 percent.

The European Union is still the most important foreign trade partner of BiH, to which goods worth 5.6 billion KM were exported in the observed period, and 8.3 billion KM worth of goods were imported from the EU.

In the total volume of BiH trade, the EU participates with 69 percent.

Observed by sectors, the export of the agro-industrial sector amounted to 647.8 billion KM, while the import amounted to 2.2 billion KM.

Mineral fuels were exported in the value of 540 million KM, with imports worth 1.2 billion KM. Exports of mineral fuels decreased by 27.33 percent, and imports by as much as 41.62 percent.
