SARAJEVO, October 20 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Zoran Tegeltija and Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković opened a joint border crossing "Vraćenovići" on the road Bileća - Nikšić, which simplified crossing of the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
Chairman Tegeltija pointed out that the opening of this border crossing, in which more than 2.5 million euros have been invested, is one in a series of successfully implemented projects between BiH and Montenegro with the EU.
He expressed his belief that this is not the last joint project, and that even larger projects will follow in the coming years, which will be successfully implemented.
“I would like to especially address the border police and customs officers of Montenegro and BiH, who have been enabling the unimpeded passage of people and goods in this area for more than 20 years because they are the ones who enabled our economies to cooperate and our citizens to communicate with each other. Your work in the previous 20 years took place in inhumane and poor conditions, but that did not stop you from successfully doing your job,” said Tegeltija.
The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH emphasized that the obligation of the authorities of both countries to enable better economic cooperation remains, and that this requires infrastructure and border crossings that will enable a smooth and fast transition of people of goodwill and businessmen who want to work successfully, but which will be an obstacle to illegal trade in both people and goods.
He announced that the construction of the road from Foča to Šćepan Polje will begin in 2021, as part of the EU project, expressing hope that all border crossings will be modernized and open by 2024.
The joint border crossing "Vraćenovići" was built on the territory of Montenegro, and the integration of two border crossings into joint one, in which the border services of BiH and Montenegro operate from today, simplifies the border crossing between the two countries.
