SARAJEVO, October 14 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotić said that all persons with dual citizenship are obliged to have a valid BiH passport when crossing the border of BiH and that it is only possible that BiH citizens cross the border with an ID card when entering Serbia or Montenegro because we have a signed agreement with them.
Cikotić gave an explanation at a session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, answering the question of Our Party MP in the House of Representatives Damir Arnaut on why BiH citizens who cross the BiH border with a BiH ID card are issued misdemeanor charges if they do not have a valid BiH passport.
"Which law is the basis for such action of the BiH Border Police when the Law on Travel Documents states that BiH citizens who cross the border with travel documents that are not regulated by this law or with an ID card that is not a BiH ID card, will be sanctioned with a misdemeanor penalty from 100 to 400 KM" said Arnaut.
At the same time, he added, more than a year ago, he asked the BiH Border Police how many top BiH officials had been fined in the previous two years if they crossed the BiH border with travel documents from other countries, but had not received an answer.
Minister Cikotić reminded that on September 10, the Council of Ministers of BiH passed a decision on prescribing additional conditions for the entry of foreigners into BiH, which puts put of force the decision which stipulates that BiH citizens who have dual citizenship can enter the territory of BiH with an ID card, regardless of the way they entered the country from which they are returning.
"Under the decision of the Council of Ministers, which came into force on September 12, the Law on Border Control and the Law on Travel Documents are being implemented by the Border Police in their original form when performing border control," Cikotić concluded.
