SARAJEVO, August 31(FENA) - The Centers for Civic Initiatives (CCI) presented a project entitled "Greater responsibility of local governments for the quality of life of citizens" which is being implemented in 15 local communities: Velika Kladuša, Kalesija, Zavidovići, Goražde, Gornji Vakuf-Uskoplje, Konjic, Široki Brijeg, Hadžići, Livno, Kozarska Dubica, Gradiška, Teslić, Ugljevik, Pale and Foča.
The project is implemented with the aim of strengthening the accountability of elected government representatives at the local level, providing information to citizens on the results of government work and candidates in the 2020 local elections, and establishing preconditions for independent monitoring of local governments' work and monitoring the citizens' satisfaction with their future work with active involvement of young people.
"Citizens, especially young people, want to be more involved in the development of local policies but are often discouraged due to lack of support, fear or lack of adequate mechanisms for participation. CCI will transfer knowledge to young activists in the field of monitoring the work of government and implementation of public policies in order to create a basis for their involvement in the work of local communities," said the CCI project manager Ana Lučić.
The project "Greater responsibility of local governments for the quality of life of citizens" is being implemented with the support of the BiH Resilience Initiative (BHRI) program, implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), stated the CCI.
